Shopping

I shopped all day yesterday looking for something to wear at my daughter's wedding. That was a dismal failure and it looks like I will have to look a little further from home.

I did find something that I wasn't actually looking for though (isn't that always the way?). Skirts. Two of them for less than $4 each. They were marked down from $24.97 to $14.99, then to only $4.99. Another customer in the change room told me that there would be an additional 25% taken off at the till. The final price was $3.48! I originally only bought the blue one. I haven't worn a dress or skirt in about 5 years so I really didn't think I would get much use out of it. After wearing the first one for a day I decided to go back and see if the only other one of the same size was still there. It's a bright coral color which is not one of "my" colors, but for $3.48, who cares? I'm holding the coral skirt in the photo.

Sorry about the blurry photo. I don't know why my camera refused to focus, but you get the general idea anyway. You can't really tell from the photo, but the skirts are pleated, with the top of the pleats stitched down.

nice skirts. i don't wear them much myself, but it wouldn't be a bad thing, that's for sure. and one other thing? i thought you didn't go barefoot? i saw that! i know, my camera has done blurry shots too, and i can't quite figure out why. hmmm. good luck on the wedding dress hunt (that didn't come out quite right, lol). i suppose i had better take my mom wedding shopping as well. is it traditional for the mothers to wear coordinating outfits, and not wedding colors? my colors will be black, white, & silver (they better not wear black!)

Ooops, caught bare footed! Let me rephrase my earlier statement:

I'm not supposed, to go bare foot. Maybe that's why I'm limping today hmmm? On hot days it's such a relief to get them off.

The skirt looks really great on you!

It's so hard to find something to wear to a wedding. There is so much to consider...too formal, not formal enough, too long, too warm and then all of a sudden it's there! The perfect dress.

Where Michelle, WHERE? Where is the perfect dress? I haven't been able to find it. Are you hiding it on me? Or is it just that the perfect dress is a size "6" and I can't fit into it?

Great bargain! I nearly always wear skirts in the summer, or dresses, but my idea of a "skirt" is a big swath of indian cotton fabric in some sort of print, with an elasticated waist. The dress is much of the same, except longer, and often without a waist at all. I'm pretty sure I look pregnant most of the time. I'm pretty sure if I tried harder I might care ...

Good luck on the wedding-clothes finding. If my daughter ever gets married, I just hope she does a "wedding in jeans in the park" thingie.

I really like your skirts, and what a bargain!!I love skirts and wear them all the time. I can tell you about my experience with hunting the right 'mother of the bride dress'. I was determined to find something reasonably priced and did. But....ta da...when the bridegrooms mother showed up in a much classier dress...I knew then I should have gone for the more expensive dress/suit. I regreted not being willing to look in the 'posh' shops. So my advice is, its once in a lifetime occasion, so go for it and look as fab as you can and good luck finding that 'perfect' apparel.

pleated skirts are some of my favourites. And you really can't go wrong with the price that they were either. heck you couln't even buy half the patter for that!

LOL No, I'm not hiding it from you, but it probably would be in just a size 6. That's happened to me before.

Have you tried to find a pants suit? There are some really nice ones and you could really dress it up with a shawl, etc...unless of course, you really want a dress.
