Beat the Deadline

I wanted this done by December first. I figured I could get it done by Thursday. I amazed myself and completed it ahead of schedule last night.

If you've been following along, this birdie was next in the instructions.

It was appliqued in place here on Santa's hand.

With the addition of the trim and sequins at the top, a plain backing, and a hanging loop, it's done. The empty slot at the top is for a name but the stocking is for our daughter, who will become "Mommy" next March so I will just leave it empty for now.

I still want to add a removable lining but that is not a part of the kit and can be done any time between now and Christmas Eve. With the weather outside being so frightful I am not about to go out today just to buy the material for the lining.

Minnie, never fear that I might run out of things to do. My list of projects is never ending and yet always being added to. I could probably work on creative pursuits non stop every minute of my life and still feel as though I hadn't enough time to do all that I had planned.

Next up (and already started many months ago) is a snowman wall/door decoration done in plastic canvas. Plastic canvas doesn't usually draw me, but this little guy is so cute I could not resist. Pictures and progress reports to come.

You're done! Great job. I want to see a full picture though.

Thanks Jodie, for the heads-up. I HAD taken a picture of the entire finished project. I even thought I had included it in the post. Anyway, here it is now.

The stocking is beautiful! I love all of the intricate detail. Your daughter will be pleased. We have six inches of snow here on Whidbey Island and more predicted for tonight. Think I'll stay in and knit.
