The wig is begun with a crocheted wig cap. It is then covered with mohair lock "wefts" that have been sewn together on a sewing machine.
Hot glue is used to attach the wefts which, unfortunately, means the wig can't be dyed after the fact. I'd like to either get my hands on some mohair locks that are naturally of a darker colour, or perhaps experiment with dyeing my own before the wig making process begins.

Anyway, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. It's looks better than I thought it would. Now if only I had hairdressing skills and could give it a better haircut!

You might be surprised bearpicnic. It was easier than I thought it would be. My only difficulty was that the locks I have are quite matted. I combed them out using a dog comb. Luckily I had a lot of volume to begin with because I'd say the combing took out about 50%.

you'd never guess so much came out. it is nice and full. wish i had that kind of volume in my hair!
Yes Cailyn there was (and still is) plenty of volume there. I have lots of hair myself, but it is completely straight. My three brothers all had curly hair, and then there was me, the only daughter, with poker straight hair. I'd love the have the crimpy wave of the mohair in this wig!
