Even if I was willing to go down so many needle sizes that I got gauge with worsted weight the resulting fabric would be stiff and inappropriate. Getting the actual gauge numbers is not the only important thing in choosing a yarn, you must end up with an appropriate drape to the fabric.Marlenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08670952038534759102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7424570.post-1169908288925440672007-01-27T06:31:00.000-08:002007-01-27T06:31:00.000-08:00Thank you, Marlene! Nothing worse than knitting an adorable, meant for a newborn garment and it ends up fitting a toddler. So, are we the oddball knitters or are the patterns just written "wrong"?jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01122459091874511418noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7424570.post-1169874274544042172007-01-26T21:04:00.000-08:002007-01-26T21:04:00.000-08:00newborn booties are 3 1/2 - 4" long on the sole. ...newborn booties are 3 1/2 - 4" long on the sole. i'm not sure about 6 month size, lol.dragon knitterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15876200889552460658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7424570.post-1169855518601918172007-01-26T15:51:00.000-08:002007-01-26T15:51:00.000-08:00Jill, I've added more information to the post, inc...Jill, I've added more information to the post, including a direct link to a listing for the book on Amazon.

The sweater IS fun to knit. Not too many patterns interest me enough to make them three times over!

Just a note: The pattern says it's for worsted weight, but I found I was only able to get gauge using sports weight. Worsted weight is too thick.Marlenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08670952038534759102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7424570.post-1169853519670463452007-01-26T15:18:00.000-08:002007-01-26T15:18:00.000-08:00Your work is beautiful! Would you please share the author, publisher or ISBN number with me so I might find a copy for my shelf? I haven't seen this book, to my knowledge, and this sweater looks like so much fun to knit.jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01122459091874511418noreply@blogger.com
