It has been brought to my attention that some sewers have a difficult time when sewing knits. The fabric gets pushed down into the machine, especially at the beginning of the seam. It helps if you use a straight stitch presser foot on the machine, and also a straight stitch throat plate, if you have one. A lot of trial and error, knitting, ripping and reknitting goes into developing even the simplest of patterns. Yesterday I made Serenity a simple little dress using laceweight handspun, merino/silk. On 1.5mm needles (US 000) it wasn't exactly "quick", but it didn't take all day either. She seems pretty pleased with it.

Red really isn't Serenity's best colour, but she's been great about posing in a new "One Button Cardi" that I'm in the process of designing for Pukifee and Lati Yellow sized dolls. I still have a bit of tweaking to do to the pattern so maybe the next rendition will be in one of her better colours. She seems to favour colours that range from pink through mauve to soft blues.

Serenity's new wig and eyes arrived today and what a difference! Interesting how the right wig and eyes can make the faceup look so much better. The wig matches her eyebrows perfectly, the eye colour makes the most of the "shadow" on her lids, and even her lip colour looks pinker and more realistic. Now THIS is the little toddler I was expecting to see when I opened her box that first day.

I finished the qiviut hat a few days ago. It was well received but it took some cajoling to get a modelled photo. I spun the yarn myself from fibre that was a gift from a friend. Qiviut fibre (the ultra soft undercoat of a musk ox) is very hard to come by and commercially spun qiviut sells for $70 - $80 per ounce! This hat, with its folded up brim, weighs about 2 ounces. The warp is a combination of about 40% "Online Linie 106, Flair" (a polyester ladder yarn), and a combination of laceweight yarns including cashmere, hand-dyed tencel, a merino/silk/cashmere blend, and a handspun merino/silk. I'm so proud of my daughter.This is her very first try at doing a custom faceup and it turned out so well! She started out with a ResinSoul Yu she had named Pip, a tiny doll that had a rather awful default faceup when it arrived.  The original faceup, pictured below, was pale, with dark shadows under the eyes that made Pip look sick or ghostly. I've been sewing a lot lately. Mostly it has been tights, tights, and more tights! I've now got 13 different colours of LittleFee/YoSd sized tights available in my Etsy store. For many of the colours I've sewn 9 or more pairs. For the remaining colours I have made up at least 2 pairs, with plans to sew up more in the coming days.I'll be keeping at least two pairs of each colour for my own dolls'
