The End of an Era?

I want to thank those of you who have been reading my blog, some since the very early days. I started blogging at the very tail end of 2004 and over the years blogged about anything creative I was up to. Back then it was a way of keeping records for my own recollection.

Now, with Ravelry, that sort of record keeping is not as pertinent for me. Blogs are no longer read with the fervor that they once were either. We creative types have other ways of staying in touch with each other.

As you may have noticed my posts here have become fewer and farther between. I know blogging is less common these days, and to tell the truth most days I just don't have enough to say to make a wordy post. My creative endeavors continue, I'm just less inclined to post in depth about it.

If you've missed me at all you are welcome to follow me on Instagram where I have started posting photos of my projects along with other little snippets of life. My explanations of the photos will be brief and to the point. I may still pop in here from time to time, but for the most part you'll find me on Instagram and at Ravelry. In both places my username is still wovenflame. On Ravelry my username is capitalized Wovenflame. See you there?

Where Was I?

I had to check back through blog posts from last week to see which weaving photos had been posted before I was distracted and kept busy with baking and sewing. So here's an update on the weaving of the "8/2 Blues" warp.

A whole lot of wandering inlay has been going on!

A lower angle.

This next one is probably my favourite bit.

The next section is where I experimented with allowing different layers of inlay to overlap and "get in each others way". Not something I'd likely repeat as I don't feel the effect is all that successful, but still, a fun experiment.

Colour is WAY off in the following photo.

I owe "sgray" from Ravelry a nod of thanks for the inspiration for this striped clasped weft section. Neat idea Sally!

I liked the effect I took another photo for you from a different angle.

And now I'm playing with stripes but allowing them to do a serpentine wander every now and then.

Stripes that wandered

The end of the warp is now in sight. I'm enjoying this last technique so maybe I'll continue on and get a section long enough for a cushion cover? Or perhaps the sleeves of a top? We'll see!

101 Projects

Ever since getting my invite to Ravelry I've been gradually working on adding all my old projects. I'm up to 101 now and still have more to go. My daughter got her much anticipated invite yesterday and is loading up her projects too. If you are a Ravelry member why not stop by and link to her as a "friend"? She goes by "Kristo".

Do you think Ravelry will still be going strong when my granddaughter learns to knit? I do.

Ravelry

I'm in at Ravelry. Yay!

My user name there, as it is here and elsewhere on the internet, Wovenflame. If you're regular visitor here and a Ravelry user I'd love to add you as a "friend".

Unfortunately I've run into a snag that is making it a lot more work and a little less fun than I had hoped. I've been knitting for about 30 years. I've been blogging about that knitting since June of 2004. All the photos I have added to my blog in the past 3 years have been hosted free by Photobucket. Ravelry only supports Flickr at the moment. *sigh*

What that means is that although I have done a ton of knitting in my lifetime and have documented the last 3 years worth with hundreds of photos on my blog, if I want to show pictures of it on my Ravelry page I have to find the photos in my files,(some of which no longer exist due to computer crashes), or when lucky on disks, and upload them to a new photo host and THEN link to them in Ravelry. Even though they are all sitting there already available online I have to do it all over again. I don't think I will.

I've put a few up, my more recent ones, and I'll try to get any new ones added to Ravelry, but jeez I wish I could just link to them all from my Photobucket account.
