I hope Trixie remembers to bring Benjamin Bowser's leash. When the wagon is full of donations he'll have to get out and walk.

Happy Halloween!
Trixe and Flame are all dressed in their costumes and ready for a fun night of Trick-or-Treating. They are a little concerned that their dedication to collecting donations for the charity food drive might slow them down.

Happy Valentine's Day!
I finished weaving the red yardage and had a rare urge to do some crocheting.
Trixie received a Valentine's Day dress from my efforts.
I used a pattern for a real baby dress as a jumping off point, but heavily modified it to have separate, contrasting ruffles and a channel for a pretty ribbon. Of course I also miniaturized the pattern by using size 30 thread and a 1.25mm hook. I then added a teeny, tiny crocheted heart.
Flame never received any new clothing but he still worked hard to make a Valentine for you.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Ice Storm of 2017
I'm sure this will be a day that Chilliwack residents remember for a long, long time.
The ICE Storm of 2017!
As if the incredible amount of snow we've had this winter weren't enough!
We were expecting more snow last night, but instead we got freezing rain. MUCH more dangerous.
All day long I've been listening to the loud cracks and bangs of branches breaking and huge limbs, or entire trees, coming down in the neighbourhood.
Looks like we are going to lose two trees and two entire rows of Pyramid Cedars ourselves. We've even had sections of a neighbour's trees fall into our yard.
My poor dogwood tree looks sadder by the hour. I don't think it will survive.
Everywhere we look
our world is covered in ice!

Beginnings
2017 is off to a great start. I've made some important commitments to better health and one week in it is going well and I am feeling very positive about the improvements I'm making.
I've had a birthday since my last blog post. Among other things I received some wonderful yarny goodness as gifts. This huge ball of "Crazy Zauberball" was a most generous gift from my sister-in-law. It will likely find it's way into a special weaving. I haven't yet decided exactly what. It is too precious to waste so I will put some thought into where I'll go with that one.

The next three items are all skeins of "Socks That Rock" yarn hand dyed in a palindrome manner. These were a birthday gift from my husband. I will use all three to weave scarves in a Faux Ikat fashion. I spent some time today preparing the first skein for the loom.

It requires some special handling to get the colours to pool and mimic IKAT dyeing. More on that in a future post.
