This was a very easy knit. Once past the edging and onto the main portion it was almost as effortless as plain stockinette stitch. The pattern calls for 3" of stockinette at each end of the smoke ring, but I decided to knit the lace pattern throughout.
The "Alpaca Cloud" by KnitPicks was a delight to work with and even nicer to wear. SO soft and as light as a puff of.....well....SMOKE!
I guess I could get out my dyes and play.

" I only wish KnitPicks carried it in bolder colors."
Oh, I hear you. That is my one big complaint with all their yarns (okay... except for the more novelty ones... those can just go away). I love the idea of most of their yarns, but inevitably, whenever I think of one of their yarns to substitute in a pattern, I go to their site and cannot find a single color that I would want to use on it.
Their new yarns come in some really nice new colors, but how does that help me when the yarn I want to use (because it is comparable to what the pattern calls for) is still only offered in the colors I didn't like in the first place?
It looks beautiful on you Marlene:-)
Your smoke ring is beautiful - that's a good color on you. I love Alpaca cloud too. I have made so many scarves and shawls with it. It is as much a pleasure to wear as it is to knit.

very nice! i've not bought any knitpicks since they switched to their house yarns, but everything i've seen everybody else use is nice. i agre with you about the color selection i've seen ont he website, though.
I love this pattern - yours is beautiful.
A wonderful picture of you and the scarf...
Smoke Rings is simply beautiful!!
Your Smoke Ring is so lovely.
I have to agree with you about Knitpicks colour choices. Blah.
Wow! We seem to be making a lot of the same patterns. I've had this one for about a year now and just haven't started it yet, but I think I might have to bump it up on my "must make" list. :-)
Alpaca Cloud dyes up beautifully--I dyed my Kiri that was originally in that sunlight color into a dappled orange/red color. It takes dye beautifully!
I found out about smoke rings by accident today - happily. This is really beautiful. It looks great on you with your blue blue eyes. Catherine
