Week 2 - Traditional Landscape

For the purposes of the 52 week photography challenge, "Landscape" is defined as: "this category is pretty broad covering both traditional landscapes and some non-traditional areas such as urbanscapes. Don't be afraid to really explore your surroundings in this category. If the focus is the environment you are in it will qualify as Landscape in this category."

For this week in particular the challenge was, "Shoot a beatuiful landscape and share it with the world. Find a nice foreground and don't forget the sky." With the weather lately being rather gloomy and dark that can be quite the challenge! I caught these three images on an early morning walk, just as the sun was starting to peek over the mountains.

'Meh. I don't find any of them particularly inspiring. The sky was pretty but the foreground is lacking in detail. I hope to find time during the week to get a better image for this category, but these will do for now and in case I end up with nothing better.

These images were captured with my iPhone. When I'm walking the dogs I don't want to be carrying my heavier, bulkier, "good" camera, a Canon EOS Rebel T3.

I may end up with a different image altogether, but of these three which is your favourite and why?

I like the first one best - it is just a visceral reaction.

They are all pretty, but I like the last one. The branches against that lovely sky make for a visually interesting photograph. :)

I think I agree Gene, which is why I put that one first. It's just a gut reaction sort of thing.

There are elements of that one that I quite like too, Randomfish, but that one odd completely vertical twig draws the eye, divides the picture in half, and kind of spoils the photo, I think.

My vote is for the 2nd photo. I liked them all but I'm real partial to naked trees. I love the silhouette look they give. The sky is beautiful in all of them. I enjoy your blog.

Thanks dynnamae. I also like that one for the same reason. I love the silhouette of the tree against the pretty sky. In the end I posted none of these in the 52 week photo challenge. The one I did post was taken on a dark gloomy day. It's not "pretty", but it captured the mood of the day rather well so I chose it.

I liked the first one best. It gives me the sense of The promise of a new day unfolds idea. I have been away from your blog for too long! You have been very busy. I want some home made apple pie now. Did you ever make Apple pie bars from the company's coming series? My kids never liked pie much but these were a hit. I had wondered what you were entering at the fair. Now I know! Can you tell me more about the photo challenge?
