Let the Band Play

I made it!

Since early January of this year I have run over 329 miles on an elliptical trainer, the distance from my present home in Chilliwack to my childhood home of Prince George. Yes, yes, I know that the silly ticker at the top of my blog says I still have 1.6 miles to go. That's because it isn't registering the fact that I've actually run PAST the required distance. I'll have to either take it down or change the destination and keep right on running. What do you think? Should I just keep right on going to...to...to....hmmmm.....how about to Prince Rupert?

Keep on running. I think doing it on an elliptical is amazing. I can't imagine the speed you achieve, because I know what I can do. It's a lot less. So congratulations.

Well I was running for months before Paula, and I'll keep on running regardless, but I was just wondering if I should keep the ticker up and try for another "faux" destination.

I have to huff and puff like a steam engine Gillian, and I'm soaked with sweat when I'm done. It's not easy but it feels great to stick with something over such a long period of time.

Congratulations!

I wish my elliptical would tell me how much distance I'd covered. I think it would be a great incentive to be heading somewhere.

If you run to Prince Rupert, make sure you bring your knitting so you can join our group on Wednesday night ;)

So . . . what's next??? Canada? The World?? Actually, I think it was a great way to keep yourself motivated! Good for you!!! I'm afraid I'd still be in Spuzzum . . .

I don't think I'll be there by this Wednesday Shelly, but maybe I could be there before next fall. I haven't checked the actual distance yet.

Having a destination has been great incentive Leisel, but I won't be setting an actual goal date again. I found that to be a little deflating. When I didn't make my original date I felt somewhat defeated even though I had already achieved a LOT. I had to talk myself out of feeling I had somehow failed.

The main goal of course is to get, and stay, in shape, and that kind of motivation doesn't require a destination. My eldest daughter bought some stickers for me to put on my calendar for each day that I work out. That can be a visual reminder of the need to work out regularly too.

Personally, I like the ticker...even though since the move I've done ZERO miles...it somehow sticks in my mind. one day. Congratulations on your goal! Keep it up!
