Tulusson's Afghan

All of the crocheting and sewing in of ends is done. The miniature afghan is finished and being blocked.

When it's dry they will be happy to post a photo of it arranged on their 1/4 scale couch.

Budding Photographer

Flame climbed up on a chair to practice his photography

He wanted to get closer to eye level because he has heard how unattractive "up the nose" shots can be.

And he wanted his photos of Lieutenant Zenawii Tulusson and his wife, Elfonda Schelf, to be as perfect as possible.

Tonight is the night of the Starship Officers' annual Christmas Party and Elfonda has a new dress for the occasion.

Flame's Fireplace Magic

Flame is really proud of this accomplishment! Peanut and Neelie are suitably impressed as well.

Flame did very well when tested on his skill at creating a fireplace where none previously existed. This is usually a talent reserved only for Christmas Eve but Elfonda has encouraged him to practice prior to the big day.

Brown Paper Packages

Around Christmas time everyone seems to love a visit from the postal delivery man. Flame is no exception. He was so excited about the big brown box that he nearly pushed it up the stairs single handedly.

Not all December deliveries are filled with gifts though. Some are stuffed to the brim with supplies for making presents! In a house filled with crafty elves, that is even BETTER!!

Flame was quick to point out that this particular box is from Knitpicks so maybe Elfonda Schelf's yarn had arrived.

Elfonda is in her glory. All her favourite colours! Flame is thrilled too. Elfonda has promised him knitting lessons.

With Flame's Help

Each year I at least try to have the first batch of shortbread made on the first of December. With Elfonda's instruction Flame did a great job of helping out this year!

He seemed to be having great fun up there on the counter, cutting out the little star shapes one by one.

He used my own personal shortbread recipe. It's kind of an hybrid of my family's recipe for a large batch of shortbread made with a full pound of real butter, and my husband's family's traditional "Canada Cornstarch" recipe.

You can find the recipe, and read more about the making of our family traditions, in a 2006 post, Shortbread Traditions.

Happy Halloween!

Neelie, Elfonda, and the weird, faceless new ghoul wanted to drop by to wish you a Happy Halloween!

Unless the torrential rain we are experiencing lightens up I don't think we will be having many Trick or Treaters at our door. Of course those that do go around might be getting more than the usual amounts of candy as people realize they have purchased too much.

Just an update to say that the final Trick-or-Treater tally was 27.

It's About Time!

I've been hanging on to this pattern, in it's final stages before publishing, for over a year now. My original intent was to include several different designs for the same doll size all in one eBook as I had done for Pukipuki and Pukifee sized dolls. For a number of reasons that just wasn't happening. I've decided now to publish the patterns individually, as they are ready. So here, without further ado is:

  Wovenflame's Minifee Pullover

It's knit top down in fingering/sock weight yarn on 2.5mm needles at a gauge of 9 stitches and 12 rows to the INCH. Length adjustments are easy to make because the sweater can be tried on while still a work in progress.
