Masters Monday - 2.19

I've finished the back of the Masters Level II vest, and I'm working on the left front piece.

It's up to the neckline shaping and underarm now. The way I have the neckline shaping written out doesn't look as good as I thought it would so I have paused for a bit while I consider the alternatives.

As I show this as a work in progress keep in mind that these pieces are not blocked. Hopefully any irregularities will be reduced in the blocking.

Since I don't know what neckline shape you have chosen, I'll just throw our my idea that it would look really good to mirror the pattern in the neckline shaping. ...this thought and $1.25 might buy a cup of coffee....

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "mirror the pattern" Nancy. This is a balanced rib. It looks the same coming as it does going. Unless you mean to use the "wrong" side of the pattern from the neckline up?

It's a V-neck with a shawl collar. I originally thought that I would carry 2 stitches of stockinette as well as one selvedge stitch up the front opening edge. Tried that and it doesn't look right. If I had ended the front edge with the 3 stitches in stockinette right from the ribbing on up it would have been okay, but I wanted to be sure to have 2 knit stitches at the side seam and that made me end with the alternating stockinette/reverse stockinette at the center front...with an additional selvedge stitch to attach the front band to.

What I am thinking I will do is just allow the pattern to flow right up to that selvedge stitch uninterrupted. It will require that I occasionally use purl decreases on the right side, but I think it will look fine. We'll see.

It looks great so far! I'm interested to see you work up that v-neck! :)
